Values of the Unit of Measurement and Indexing in effect as of February 1, 2019

New minimum wage as of January 1st, 2019
December, 2018

On December 26, 2018 the resolution of the Representative Council of the National Minimum Wages Commission (CONASAMI for its initials in Spanish) was published in the Federal Official Gazette (DOF for its initials in Spanish), which establishes the general and professional minimum wages that will be in force as of January 1st, 2019. As we had anticipated, this resolution will divide the country into two geographical areas for all the issues related with minimum wage.

Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation declares the exclusion of domestic workers from the mandatory regime of the Mexican Social Security Institute to be unconstitutional

On December 5th, 2018, the Second Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation approved a draft resolution determining that it is unconstitutional for employers of domestic employees not to be obligated to register those employees with the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS).

New minimum wage beginning January 1, 2019 and creation of a Border General Minimum Wage
December, 2018

By ruling of the National Minimum Wage Commission (CONASAMI), beginning January 1, 2019, the new general minimum wage for Mexico will be $102.68 pesos, and the new "Border General Minimum Wage” will be $176.72 pesos.
