However, the publication in the Gazette of the Spanish version of the uniform regulations of the USMCA with respect to chapters 4 (Rules of Origin), 5 (Origin Procedures), 6 (Textiles and Apparel) and 7 (Customs Administration and Trade Facilitation) is still pending and is essential for their clarification and application.
Similarly, the Congress of the Union is in the process of discussing and approving the amendments to various federal laws necessary to adjust the Mexican legal framework to the content of the USMCA. Among the Laws that will suffer changes are the Customs Act, the Federal Copyright Act, the Federal Criminal Code and the Import and Export Duty Act, and the issuance of a Quality Infrastructure Act and a Federal Industrial Property Protection Act is contemplated.
The regulations and the amendments to the mentioned laws are expected to be published tomorrow at the latest.
