On May 11, 2026, the Ministry of Energy (“SENER”) published in the Official Gazette of the Federation (the “DOF”) the “SecondCall for the Priority Processing of Applications for Electricity Generation Permits and Interconnection to the National Electric System, Aligned with Binding Planning” (the “Second Call”), whose objectives, scope, and specifications can be viewed here.
In light of the foregoing, on May 26, 2026, SENER published in the DOF the “Agreement Issuing the Amendment to the Second Call for Priority Processing of Applications for Electricity Generation Permits and Interconnection to the National Electric System, in Line with Binding Planning” (the “Amendment to the Second Call”).
Below is an executive summary of the most relevant aspects of the Amendment to the Second Call:
A. Updated Timeline for the Second Call
The Amendment to the Second Call establishes a specific timeline for each stage of the procedure, including the registration of expressions of interest, the submission of permit applications, the resolution of objections, the issuance of interconnection study results, the acceptance of Interconnection Works and Reinforcement Works, and the issuance of permits by the CNE, as follows:
