Regulations are eased in the public sector purchase and import of medicines, equipment and medical products necessary to fight COVID-19

A ruling of the Ministry of Health was published in the Official Federal Gazette today establishing certain extraordinary actions related to the purchase and import by the public sector of all types of goods and services necessary to fight COVID-19, such as medicines, medical equipment, diagnostic agents and surgical and healing material.

This ruling indicates, among other things, that the Ministries of Health, National Defense and Navy, the Institute of Health for Wellbeing, the Mexican Social Security Institute and the Institute of Security and Social Services for the Workers of the State will be authorized to purchase and import the mentioned goods and services. For this purpose, they may make the advances and payments necessary to guarantee the best opportunity conditions, and they will be relieved from exhausting the import procedures required by the Federal Commission for Protection from Sanitary Risks.
