Energy reform opens the Mexican energy market to domestic and foreign private investment

December 13, 2013Dear clients and friends, On December 10, 2013, with the vote of the majority of the political parties PRI, PAN, PVEM and PANAL, the plenary of the Senate of the Republic approved, with 95 votes in favor and 28 against, the ruling on the energy reform, which the Chamber of Deputies likewise approved on December 11 at 11:05 p.m., in general terms, with 354 votes in favor and 134 against. Now it only remains to be approved by the majority of the local legislatures, that is, 17 local legislatures out of the 31 states and the Federal District, which will most likely occur given that the PRI holds a majority in the local legislatures.
