INEGI updated the daily, monthly and annual values of Mexico’s Unit of Measurement and Update by 3.69%, effective February 1, 2026.
On January 9, 2026, Mexico’s National Institute of Statistics and Geography (“INEGI”) published in the Federal Official Gazette the updated daily, monthly and annual values of the Unit of Measurement and Update (“UMA”), reflecting a 3.69% increase compared with the previous year.
The new values, effective February 1, 2026, are:
• Daily UMA: MXN 117.31.
• Monthly UMA: MXN 3,566.22.
• Annual UMA: MXN 42,794.64.
The UMA is an economic reference used to calculate the amount of various obligations and thresholds established under federal and state laws and other legal provisions.
Its use separates these calculations from the minimum wage. Accordingly, the annual update affects amounts such as fines, taxes, government fees, certain limits related to the contribution base salary and other economic obligations established under applicable law.
Companies should therefore consider the updated values from their effective date when reviewing obligations, thresholds, penalties and other legal or administrative amounts expressed in UMA.
