We wish to inform you that on October 10, 2022, the new “Guidelines for the healthy continuity of economic activities in response to Covid-19” were published, issued by the New Normality Committee, made up of the Ministries of Health, Economy, and Labor and Social Welfare, and the Mexican Social Security Institute.
As part of the Federal Government’s suggestions and recommendations, the following stand out: • The use of sanitizing mats is eliminated. • The use of face masks is no longer mandatory in either open or enclosed spaces, provided that there is a safe distance of at least 1.5 meters between each person; otherwise, it will only be advisable. • Employers may continue to conduct tests (at the employer’s expense), but these may not be mandatory nor a condition for the return to on-site work. • The vaccine is not mandatory nor a condition for individuals to carry out their activities at the workplace. • It is suggested to continue favoring safe distancing at the workplace (1.5 meters between individuals). • Establish a permanent cleaning and maintenance program for the workplace. • Provide dispensers with solutions based on 60% alcohol at various points in the workplace (including at entrances and common areas). • Ensure that restrooms have washbasins and adequate conditions for cleaning. • Where possible, favor natural ventilation or, as the case may be, provide maintenance and filter replacement for the correct operation of ventilation systems. Likewise, the guidelines emphasize health promotion activities, recommending that employers designate a committee or a responsible person to implement, monitor and supervise the measures that help reduce infections, as well as provide training to employees on the actions to be taken at the workplace to prevent infections.
