New Court Specialized in Competition and Telecommunications

On September 22, 2021, the Plenary of the Federal Judiciary Council approved the creation and commencement of operations of the Third District Court in Administrative Matters, specialized in Economic Competition, Broadcasting and Telecommunications (the “Third Court”), based in Mexico City and with jurisdiction throughout the Mexican Republic.

This decision was made in a context of work overload in the District Courts specialized in such matters, caused mainly by the amparo claims filed against the amendments to the Electric Industry Law, the Hydrocarbons Law, and the Federal Telecommunications and Broadcasting Law, among other general provisions enacted by the Mexican State in 2021. The Third Court will begin operations on November 1, 2021, and will be located in Mexico City. We reiterate that we remain at your service to resolve any questions in this regard.
