October, 2026

The proposed Digital Economy Act raises implementation challenges and a broader discussion on the benefits and implications of payment digitalization in Mexico.

Our partner Alberto Cordoba was consulted by Expansión for the article “Falta de sanciones en su diseño amenaza la efectividad de la Ley de Economía Digital” (“Lack of sanctions in its design threatens the effectiveness of the Digital Economy Act”), in which he shared his perspective on some of the challenges that could arise in implementing the proposed legislation.

The article also addresses the challenges associated with reducing the use of cash in Mexico and the importance of considering these factors for the effective implementation of the initiative.
