On August 12, 2013, the President of the Republic, Mr. Enrique Peña Nieto, submitted to the Senate of the Union Congress the bill to reform articles 27 and 28 of the Political Constitution of the United Mexican States, the so-called Energy Reform. August 15, 2013. On August 12, 2013, the President of the Republic, Mr. Enrique Peña Nieto, submitted to the Senate of the Union Congress the bill to reform articles 27 and 28 of the Political Constitution of the United Mexican States, the so-called Energy Reform. This reform bill mentions the following strategic pillars: (i) Strengthening of the State's role as regulator of the oil industry, (ii) Economic Growth, (iii) Inclusive Development, (iv) Energy Security, (v) Transparency and (vi) Sustainability and Environmental Protection. Its objective is to strengthen and expand the operation of Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex).
