The fight against corruption: a corporate social responsibility
A culture of integrity and the incorporation of ESG considerations can strengthen anti-corruption efforts, corporate governance and long-term business value.
Corruption remains a significant challenge in Mexico and requires a coordinated response involving authorities, companies and civil society. Against this backdrop, citizen participation and stronger reporting and accountability mechanisms are becoming increasingly important within Mexico’s National Anti-Corruption System.
Mexico’s Supreme Court has recognized the role of civil society as an important counterbalance in the prevention and investigation of corruption, expanding the tools available to challenge decisions made by investigating authorities.
For companies, the adoption of integrity policies, internal controls, compliance programs and international best practices can help mitigate legal, reputational, operational and financial risks while strengthening intangible value and stakeholder confidence. From an ESG perspective, anti-corruption efforts therefore become an important component of corporate responsibility and governance.
