Industrial Designs – Mexico accedes to the Hague System

On June 6, 2020, Mexico acceded to the Hague Agreement Concerning the International Registration of Industrial Designs.

As of June 6, 2020, national applicants may make use of the Hague System to protect their industrial designs in the territories of up to 89 countries, through a single international application and the payment of a single set of fees. For their part, foreign applicants have the option of selecting Mexico to protect their industrial designs under the Hague System. In this regard, on June 5, 2020, the Agreement issued by the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property (IMPI) was published in the Official Gazette of the Federation, disclosing the government fees and the rules and specifications applicable to the filing of documents and the processing of applications.
